When will Early Access be released?

Skye: The Misty Isle is launching to Early Access in June 2024! After three years of development, with a year and a half in Pre-Alpha with our amazing Æsir donors, we can’t wait to enter the next stage of development with you all. Keep your eyes peeled for a date announcement coming soon!

What is the plan for Early Access?

Early Access will begin in Phase 0.3Muspelheim, and will feature the initial regions of Norway and Skye, 15 settlements, and 140 encounters and points of interest, so players will have no shortage of places to explore.

How will Early Access be updated?

Development has been planned into distinct phases based on the nine Norse realms. Early Access will begin in Phase 0.3Muspelheim, and will see the game undergo six major updates before its final full release. Each major update will add content such as map regions, mechanics and additional features. Smaller patches and hotfixes will be released as necessary to improve performance and player experience.

What can I expect from Skye: The Misty Isle?

Skye is a hyper-realistic, multi-regional, open-world Viking survival game. Players can expect to find all their favourite survival features and base-building mechanics within a vast world ready to be explored!

During Early Access, a temporary border will be added to limit the playable area and allow us to carefully craft regions of our vast maps. This border will be expanded periodically throughout development, with both maps fully available at full release.

As the game develops, we plan to introduce a rich narrative in which the player will follow Einar through his journey from curious explorer to legendary raider. We are also looking to develop player-vs-player (PvP), player-vs-environment (PvE), creative and hardcore game modes, and comprehensive performance and visual updates to ensure players achieve the best possible experience.

How accurate is the world?

The game contains two 256 km2 maps: the Isle of Skye, Scotland, and Mørsvikbotn, Norway. The landscape has been generated to a 1:4 scale using highly precise real-world height maps to ensure that the terrain, elevation, and features are as accurately portrayed as possible.
